IBADAN N/W COMMENCES THEIR 2013 TEACHER’S CARNIVAL IN A GRAND STYLE

The Ibadan North-West Local government 2013 Teachers’ carnival has commenced on Sunday, 29th September 2013.

The carnival which is scheduled to be a week event took off on Sunday with a thanksgiving service in which the members of the noble profession appreciated God for he has initiated and sustained the profession.

CEOAFRICA gathered that the celebration was in line with the declaration by the bigger body, UNESCO, which has marked October 5th for the appreciation of the significant role of teaching profession.

On Wednesday, the members of the professional body (NUT) were seen gathered in front of Adamasingba Stadium in a very elated mood with their colorful uniforms on and standby ambulances and music van, all provide by the Ibadan N/W Local Government Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Olatunbosun for the noble event

According to Comrade Boyega Balogun, the Oyo State Treasurer of NUT, who spoke to our correspondence on the aim of the yearly carnival, the event is programmed to serve as a sensitization that would table the plight of the profession to the stakeholders with a view of providing solution to some of their challenges.

Speaking in the same lane, Comrade Ojekunle O. Tope, the NUT Chairman, Ibadan North-West said that the Chairman of the Ibadan North-West Local Government deserve a huge commendation for putting up the program such that the noble profession is celebrated in a grand style.

The NUT chairman disclosed that the North-West LG Chairman has planned the event such that it is now a week celebration with so much enlightenment and welfare packages such as Health Talks, Free medical test for members, Exercise package inform of Roadshow, Seminar/Retirement workshop, visit to Orphanage, Jumat Service and then a Symposium/Award presentation which marks the grand finale of the one week event.

Comrade Tope further highlighted that the Chairman of the Local Government has done so well in projecting the noble profession (NUT) as he not only contributed to their welfare but has also engaged many of them in vocational training.

He concluded however that the grand finale of the event would also ensure the proper commendation of the local government chairman and others for their committed and honest service and also presentation of retirement token for all who had retired from the profession this year 2013.
