In its bid to nullify indiscipline among Police Force, the Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), DSP Celestina Kalu of Delta State police command Headquarters, on Friday said that the present administration under the Commissioner of Police, CP Alkali Baba Usman would not give room for corrupt police officers in the state.

Kalu stated this in an exclusive interview with CEOAfrica Securing Africa crew during the weekend, in Delta State.

According to her: “The structure, which the past administration employed, is what we are building on and strategising to give room for efficiency and openness in the force.

“The job is tasking, challenging, but interesting.

“All officers in the command are always on their toes to ensure a criminal free state,” she added.

Kalu called for cordial relationship between the state indigenes and the police to ensure a secured society.

“The relationship between the public and the police force should be cordial to allow the public to be free to pass any information across to us that could help in our job of keeping the state peaceful.

“Community policing is already in practice in the state, the force allows members of the public to express themselves by giving suggestions, criticism, or commendation of the police force through a weekly radio programme, under the supervision of the PPRO’s office to allow interaction between us and the public.”

She added that public should be free to report any suspicious moves to the police force nearest to their community without fear of being arrested or harassed.

The PPRO urged the state government to always support the police force by providing necessary equipment that would help the police force in combating criminal rate in the state.

She however said her dream for Nigeria is to see a country devoid of crime and anomalies.
