Embu primary and secondary schools were void of academic activities yesterday as teachers continued with the strike over pay demands.
Boards of management in some schools sent the students home.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers Embu branch secretary John Gitari said 100 per cent of teachers skipped class.
He said the government's refusal to implement the 50-60 per cent pay hike as ordered by the courts has emboldened teachers to boycott work.
Gitari said Embu teachers will not resume duty until they are paid.
His Mbeere counterpart Dickson Murunguma said teachers are so bitter because they have not received their salary for August.
"The teachers are advising us to lead the strike because they have even been denied what they worked for," he said.
