The Lagos State Police Command, in the early hours of yesterday arrested twenty (20) male suspects and seized seventy-two (72) motorcycles following an ongoing intelligence-driven joint raid across the State.

The police, having latched onto a lead, conducted a massive raid on identified criminal hideouts within the FESTAC axis.

In a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, CEOAFRICA can exclusively reveal that the exercise, sanctioned by the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, is expected to continue until the set objectives are brought into fruition.

Meanwhile, another criminal attempt by a well-organized criminal syndicate to divert and steal a fully
loaded trailer-load of rice had earlier been foiled by the Police in Lagos, on the 30th of August 2015 at about 8pm.

The MACK Trailer with registration number BDG 524 XH contained 600 bags of rice and was bound for a warehouse in Agboju area having departed from Wharf-Apapa.

It was in the cause of this journey when suddenly the driver, currently at large, working in collaboration with other criminal elements diverted the trailer to Mile Two Estate. Whilst the gang members were busy off-loading the several hundreds of bags of rice, Police operatives from Area’ E’ Command, Festac Town acting on a tip-off, swooped on them, arresting the suspects and recovering the trailer and its contents to Area E Command Office.

While expressing concern over increasing cases of diversion of Trailers and containers from Nigerian Ports, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the State CP Fatai Owoseni advised transport and haulage companies to strengthen internal checks and controls within their companies to reduce the rate of collusion between their staff and external criminals.

He commended the personnel of the FESTAC Area Command for the timely intervention that led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the diverted trailer.
The recovered MACK Trailer and the 600bags of rice have been released to H. Safieddine Transport Company Ltd believed to be the owner, by the Area Commander, ACP Frank Mba, while the principal suspect Babatunde Omoh and others will be charged to court with immediate effect.
