Steven Bengo will feature at Kavumba-based Soana after agreeing to a one year deal with the Azam Uganda Premier League side early this week.

The former SC Villa playmaker has been without a club since leaving Villa, the 16 time league champions at the end of last season.

"He is with us on a one year deal and has just scored a brace in a warm up game against Artland," club owner Smart Obedi said of the game that ended 7-0 against the Big League side.

Once regarded as the next best thing in Ugandan football since breaking out in 2006, the player was also deemed surplus to requirements at KCC which he left at the end of the 2013/2014 season.

He also signed for Tanzanian side Yanga in 2009 before returning to play for URA.

Bengo joins a side that narrowly survived relegation last season but has picked five points from their opening three games including a 4-0 rout of Lweza on Saturday.

They also made several signings during the off-season including Francis Olaki, former cranes winger Dan Wagaluka and the experienced Willy Kavuma, Siraje Ssevume, Kamada Ssebagala
