FIFA Rankings: Angola Leapfrogs to 88th Position

Angola leapfrogged to the 88th position with 381 points in the ranking of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). The Angolan National team is only one slot better than its previous ranking in a list led by Argentine with 1,442 points.

This follows FIFA's updates carried out today. The Angolans, who are expected to play Madagascar Sunday on the second round of Group B qualifying match for CAN2017 in Gabon, are the best second among Portuguese Speaking African Countries (PALOP), behind Cape Verde, which fell six places.

Mozambique with (95), Guinea-Bissau (142) and Sao Tome and Principe (190).

As for the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), Brazil ranks fifth with 1,209 points, while Portugal comes sixth with 1,186 points.

Algeria remains the highest ranked African country at 19th place, followed by Cote d'Ivoire (21) and Ghana (27th). These three countries maintained their positions on the last update.
