Sequel to the preponderance of kidnapping in Ekiti State, in recent time, the government has declared that anybody caught in the
criminal act  now risks a life  imprisonment  courtesy of a new law being proposed by the state government.

This is contained in a press statement in Ado-Ekiti issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Idowu Adelusi.

Adelusi  said the decision was part of the resolutions arrived at on Thursday  during the State Executive Council meeting presided over by the Deputy Governor, Dr Kolapo Olusola.

Commenting on the proposed law, the Commissioner for Justice, Owoseni Ajayi said the proposed law would help stem the tide of abductions and kidnappings that rocked the state few months ago.

It was also agreed that all moveable properties used by the abductors would be confiscated by the state government.
