30,000 CHILDREN TO BE SAVED BY NEW VACCINE ANNUALLY - MIMIKO

As much as 30,000 children below the age of one would be saved annually ,  Ondo state governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has said, stating that he introduction of the pentavalent vaccine in the state would put an end to the menace of Haemophilus Influenza b related death.

Speaking at the inauguration of the pentavalent vaccine in the state, the governor expressed the commitment of his administration to the complete eradication of polio and other children related diseases in the state and further commented like he always did that government was committed to the continuous sensitization of the public on polio eradication initiative, routine immunization and all maternal and child health programme.

The governor also pointed out that the inauguration of the pentavalent vaccine was sequel to the approval from GAVI to introduce the Haemophilus Influenza b antigen as a pentavalent vaccine in a phased manner into its EPI schedule.

However, the governor e urged the people for complete acceptance and mobilization of the new pentavalent vaccine in the state

Mimiko further urged all the local government caretaker committee chairmen to provide necessary supports for the introduction of pentavalent vaccine in all health facilities offering routine immunization in their respective councils.
