Drama as Osun workers boo on Aregbesola during rally

Dramatic display resurfaced on Thursday as civil servants in Osun state boo on the state governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola after addressing the workers over their support to the anti-corruption crusade embarked upon by the president Mohammadu Buhari and the issue of unpaid salaries.

The scenario which occurred at the State Government Secretariat Abere, Osogbo the state capital where the civil servants came out in mass to support the annual anti-corruption rally organized by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) throughout the nation.

While addressing the workers, Aregbesola appreciate the NLC in the state and the civil servants for coming out in mass to support the president campaign against corruption since he has assumed office.

The governor however lamented on the side effect of corruption which serve as a disability to the growth of any nation.

“I want to believe that the anti-corruption drive of our president is holistic it’s not just financial, it is total since our advent here we have omitted ourselves from stealing, the spirit of Omoluabi (a virtue someone) which means we are not corrupt”. Aregbesola said.

He however calm the tension of the workers, saying the salary will be paid as soon as possible.

The NLC chairman in the state Comrade Jacob Adekomi while reacting to the governor’s speech, appealed to the state government to try and eradicate corruption in the state. He therefore reminded the governor of the seven months salaries and arrears owed by his government saying the workers in the State are in a critical conditions as there is no money to cater for their children especially when they are about to resume for another academic activities next week and the celebration of Eld el Kabir celebration that is coming soon.

The story however changed as the civil servants boo on the governor while leaving, different anti-corruption song was chanted with different inscriptions on placards.

In an interview with CEOAfrica shortly after the rally, the NLC chairman Adekomi said meeting will be hold today between the NLC and the TUC to discuss the next action to take.
