As a crowded minibus and another passenger vehicle collided in the Ivory Coast port town of San Pedro on Friday, at least 19 people were killed and 37 got injured in the crash.

Police chief Seydou Ouattara said the accident was caused by “a technical problem in the vehicles” and that 19 people had been killed.

“Poor maintenance is often behind the many fatalities on West Africa’s roads.”
