Man Arraigned on Illegal Possession of Police Uniform Materials in Lagos State

From Lagos State, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that a man has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ebute-Meta for illegally possessing materials for police uniform.

Sources said Terkimbi Anongo, 22, was caught with the items at Oyinbgo area of Lagos during a search through which Indian hemp was also discovered in his bag.

The charge against Anongo reads;

“That you, Terkimbi Anongo, on the 22 September, 2013 at about 7.40pm at Oyingbo bus stop, Ebute Meta, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully have in your possession one superior police officer sky blue uniform shirt, a pair of police badge rank, one superior officer lang yard, with whistle, seven pieces of police button and two wrapped dried leaf suspected to be Indian hemp.”

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Asu Feddy, the offence is punishable under Section 328 (d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.

Anongo therefore pleaded not guilty, but there was no legal representation to defend him in the matter.

He was granted bail by the Magistrate, Mr. O.O Olatunji, in the sum of N50,000 with one responsible surety in like sum. The matter was adjourned till November 20, 2013.
