CEOAFRICA has gathered this from the statement by the Supervising Minister of Environment, Darius Ishaku, after the third meeting of the council.

According to the statement by Ishaku after the council meeting presided over by the Vice President Namadi Sambo, the council also resolved that work would start from the Northern states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Yobe, Zamfara and Borno.

He explained that the Great Green Wall is the 1,500 kilometre length Green wall of 15 kilometres which runs across the border between Nigeria and the other neighbouring countries of the northern front zone.

He emphasized that the Great Green Wall is also strategized to provide an international green belt in addition to creating employment for the youths many of which have already been engaged in the work.
