Infrastructure developing firms bid for Lekki International Airport.

Three infrastructure developing consortia of firms which include Bouyges, Eko global and Maevis, are in a race for the first round of bidding for the development of a second international airport in Lagos the Lekki international airport.

CEOAFRCA learnt that a team of local and foreign representatives of the bidders are already in the state for the preliminary processes of the bidding. The bidders have gone to the site for physical inspection to enable them form their impression.

Several talks have also been held with the government and a team of experts to the project.

The preferred bidders are expected to be announced in April 2014, while the signing of a concession agreement and project document will take place in June 2014 and a close of the financial aspect of the deal in September.

The airport which is being promoted by the Lagos state government is to help complement the existing federal owned Muritala International Airport in Ikeja.

The proposed airport is being located close to Epe along Lekki-Eti-Osa Epe corridor. The choice of location is informed by the need to further open up Lekki and and complement the ongoing massive development around the area.
