Following the misconduct of fans during the first leg 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match on June 13 against Chad, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has slammed a $5000 fine on Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The decision of the continent's football governing body was released on its website in Cairo on Tuesday as several punishments were handed to erring countries and clubs alike after the disciplinary board meeting.

CAF said Nigeria was punished because fans rushed into the pitch to celebrate the Super Eagles' second goal in the match played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, Kaduna.

Ethiopia and Botswana were also found guilty of same offence like Nigeria.

The Nigeria Chad game ended 2-0 in favour of the Eagles. The victory placed Nigeria in the second position in Group G with four points behind Egypt which has six points.

Interestingly, the NFF have already announced that Kaduna will again host the Eagles' next home game in the AFCON qualifying series when they take on group leaders, Egypt.
