Warning strike, which they embarked upon on Wednesday over the non-payment of their two months salaries arrears.

While speaking with newsmen in Akure shortly after the meeting, the chairman of the state Joint Negotiating Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress, Comrade Sunday Adeleye, said the union took the decision following the intervention of labour leaders.

Adeleye gave some conditions to the government, which included payment of salaries of the workers in full by Wednesday, October 7, 2015, and reinstatement of some workers, whose names had allegedly been removed from the payment vouchers of the civil service during the last verification exercise.

He alleged the State Government to have illegally removed about 500 names of workers from the vouchers of State Teaching Service Commission, Universal Basic Education Board and core civil service, during the recent verification exercise.

He warned that the failure of the state government to do this might lead to industrial action.

“Any worker found guilty of any offence should be made to face the music with due process rather than unjustly removing their names from the payment voucher. “All salaries arrears be paid in full, that is, July, August and September by Wednesday October 7, 2015,” Adeleye said.

He added that “All of us are the stakeholders in the government of this state. On the behalf of JNC, I hereby direct all the workers in Ondo State to resume work tomorrow (Friday). The government should try and reason with us and yield to our demand. I also want to tell the government that we are not politically motivated by any individual to embark on strike,” he stressed.
