The former People Democratic Party chairman in Ondo State, Mr Ebenzer Alabi has rejected the appointment offered him by the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.
Alabi’s name was among the recent appointees announced by the state governor on Tuesday as the Senior Special Assistant to the governor.
In a letter signed by him and dated October 7, 2015, was made available to our correspondent on Thursday, Alabi said he had established his own private business, which would require proper monitoring and attention that would deny him the opportunity to take up the government job.
“I am aware of the competition and many waiting competent hands in our party that were not considered for positions due to space and the economic reality of the moment.
"Therefore, a call to service, to me, is a rare privilege and opportunity to be a part of your dream and by extension, that of our great party, the PDP. I am very much aware of this and the political relevance it will confer on me.
"Regrettably, sir, I will not be able to take up the appointment for the following reason:
“The moment I stepped down as the state chairman of our great party and following the ouster of our party from government at the federal level and the sudden dissolution of the federal board, in which I was the chairman, I have set in motion business plans that now demand my attention. Pending the time the set-up stage will be scaled and surmounted, my presence must be sufficient in the day-to-day running of the business.
“For the above reason, I humbly plead you allow me turn down the offer," the statement read.
