Sierra Leone Census to Last For Two Weeks In 2014

The 2014 National Population Census in Sierra Leone will last for two weeks, CEOAFRICA.com gathered from Freetown.

Disclosing this, the Director of Population and Housing Survey at Statistics Sierra Lone (SSL) Sahr Yambasu said the result of the provisional result of the census will be provided immediately the exercisa ends.

“Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) and census help to examine the agenda for prosperity as we need to look at where we took off and later assess the progress we achieve,” he said.

Speaking further, Yambasu said activities like cartographic mapping are ongoing to map out the country, while the field work for the DHS has been completed and that data is at present being processed at all four hundred and thirty-five clusters selected for the exercise.

He concluded by revealing that the chief technical adviser for the census is expected to start working in the beginning of next year with the support of UNFPA, while the cartography expert will start work this week.

The Census will commence on December 6, 2014.
