CEOAFRICA sports desk gathered that Ghana Football Association has submitted a request to the world soccer governing body, FIFA, seeking for a change of venue for the second-leg 2014 World Cup qualifier encounter between Ghana and Egypt.

The GFA urged FIFA to change the initial venue of Cairo to a neutral ground so as to guarantee the safety of Black Stars players.

With dozens of people killed over the weekend in the latest clashes in Cairo, the highest concern of GFA is the security of lives and properties of the players and officials.

"Our request is premised on the alarming and fast deteriorating security situation in Egypt. The violence has shown no sign of abating.

"We are seriously concerned about the security and safety of our delegation and spectators if the match would be played in Egypt as events in the country pointedly indicate that our delegation could be exposed to danger as the violence and insecurity in the country continues relentlessly.

Meanwhile, FIFA has received the letter and promised to see to it while monitoring the current situation in the land of the Pharaohs, "We can't give you an exact time-scale for the decision since we are currently monitoring the situation."
