From the camp of the Wayas Antelope of Ethiopia, CEOAFRICA sports desk gathered that the top striker of the side, Getaneh Kebede Gibeto has been ruled out of Sunday’s crucial world cup playoff encounter against the African Champions, Nigeria.

The 21-year-old striker, who was joint-top scorer for Ethiopia in the group stages, suffered an ankle injury while playing for his South African Club, Bidvest Wits.

Although he arrived at the camp of Ethiopia for the encounter, medical officials of the team confirmed that he would not recover in time for the game on Sunday.

Ethiopia will instead look to Saladin Said Ahmed, who along with Gibeto scored four goals in the group stages, to spearhead the attack on Sunday.

Saladin also scored twice when the two nations last met in Addis Ababa back in 2011 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier that ended 2-2.
