CEOAFRICA gathered that Zamfara State High court has sentenced a 37-year-old man, Abdullahi to death by hanging.

The convict who held from Tungar Miya, Talata Mafara Local Government Area was arraigned before the court in August 2008 for killing his step daughter through food poison.

Delivering his judgment, the judge, Justice Bello Gumi, said the court was convinced that the accused person committed the offence, adding that the accused intentionally or was with the knowledge that death or grievous bodily injury would be the probable consequence of his action if he poisoned her food.

Justice Gumi contended that the court, therefore, found that the prosecution had established that the accused person was guilty of the charge brought before the court and however has sentenced the accused person to death by hanging.

Counsel to the convicted person, Ezza Benn, on the contrary disclosed that the judgment came to them as a surprise, saying that he would study the judgment and decide on the next line of action.
