Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) announced that it has suspended the week-long strike.

CEOAFRICA news desk has come upon this as contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday and signed by the union’s National Secretary, Promise Adewusi.

According to the statement content, the union disclosed that the decision to suspend the strike was due to the fact that Federal Government has complied with the union’s demands.

”Following substantial compliance to our demand for the payment of August and September salaries of our members which is the reason for our current national strike action, we hereby suspend the strike and direct all our members to return to their duties with effect from Monday, the 14th of October, 2013,” the statement read.

However, the suspension of the strike by SSANU is not to say that students will return to the various public universities as university lecturers, ASUU are still on strike.
