As Nigerians continue to mourn the demise of the former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Solomon Lar, it was revealed that the elder statesman lived in a rented apartment at Bobo Street, off Gana Street, Maitama Abuja until his death.

According to Solomon Lar’s Special Assistant, Ambassador Danladi Wuyep, the late politician shared his possession with the people around him.

While playing host to the national working committee of the PDP, led by its National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Wuyep described the late former governor of Plateau State as a detribalized politician.

“This house is a rented house because his money was for everybody. Sometimes he will use his land papers as collateral to collect money from the banks and share to the downtrodden; we will come to him as our father,” Wuyep told Tukur.

According to Wuyep, when Solomon Lar was on the sickbed, he was worried about the current crisis rocking the party and prayed that peace should reign in the party. Wuyep prayed that his death would bring lasting peace to the PDP and Nigeria in general.

However, a PDP stalwart, Chief Arthur Eze, was moved by this revelation and immediately accepted to pay for the house. Eze said it was Solomon Lar that made him who he is today.

With Tukur  were the PDP Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus ; National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha; National Auditor, Adewale Adeyanju; National Legal Adviser, Victor Kwon; Political Adviser to Tukur, Senator Abubakar Gada
