Ejiofor reportedly claimed that he had been hired to represent the Biafra leader but eventually left the premises after being instructed to do so by Kanu’s brother.

A lawyer representing the leader of   the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu was today, January 18, 2016, sent out of court by Kanu’s brother, reports say.

The lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, is said to have appeared at the Abuja Federal High Court instead of Kanu’s official counsel, Vincent Obetta, according to The Cable.

Ejiofor reportedly claimed that he had been hired to represent the Biafra leader but eventually left the premises after being instructed to do so by Kanu’s brother.

Kanu has been charged with treason by the Federal Government but at his last court date he expressed his lack of confidence in the court leading the presiding judge to step down.

The Radio Biafra boss was arrested in October   and supposedly granted bail but he was never freed.

Kanu's continued detention has led his followers to launch protests in various part of the country to demand his freedom.

President Muhammadu Buhari has however said that Kanu will remain in detention  because he travelled to Nigeria without a passport  among other offences.
