Reports reaching news desk of CEOAFRICA is that residents are still suffering the aftershock as about 140 people have died due to the earthquake that struck in Cebu Philippines on Tuesday morning.

Source said that Relief efforts are however continuing in the affected communities as the air force was carrying 11 tonnes (24,000 lbs) of relief supplies to affected residents in affected communities.

Residents said they are afraid of going back to their homes for fear of aftershocks. Minda Morante, civil defence chief for the central islands have however said they expect the number of toll to increase considering there are still areas that need search.

“There seems little hope of finding any large number of survivors from beneath the rubble of collapsed buildings and churches’’.

At least 276 people have been injured, according to the country’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
