CEOAFRICA gathered from Akure that a middle age man working with the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) was stabbed to death with a broken bottle in a drinking joint over a minor argument.

Udoh Johnson, was reportedly stabbed at a joint very close to his house about 11:30pm at Adinlewa street when he went to charge his phone.

Our source disclosed that Udoh went to the bar to remove his hand set but one of the customers simply identified as Wale said he stepped on his legs without apologizing. The suspect removed Udoh’s handset and the charger and flung it away.

An argument ensued and this was followed by a fight and  Udoh was said to have been  stabbed by the suspect with a broken bottle which made him bleed until he died.

While the fight lasted others at the joint fled and nobody could rush Udoh to the hospital following which he reportedly died after losing much blood.

Meanwhile, Police Public Relation Officer in Ondo State, Wole Ogodo, confirmed that the victim was stabbed on the leg and was immediately rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, Akure, where he eventually gave up the ghost.

He said the corpse of the deceased was thereby deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.

According to him the case has been transfered to  the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigations.

The PPRO however said all hands are on deck to apprehend the suspect who is at large immediately the incident happened.
