A NATION’S CULTURAL HERTAGE FORM ITS IDENTITY AND SHOULD BE PROMOTED –OPC BOSS

The Coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress in Kwara, Mr. Olanrewaju Salam, has called on Nigerians to always promote and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the nation.

Mr. Salam who is also the Chairman of Olokun Foundation in Kwara state – organization promoting the cultural heritage of the Yoruba pointed out that a nation’s cultural heritage is its identity.

He presented that Oya festival which is organized by Olokun Festival Foundation is a culture and not a religion and that because culture had become a global phenomenon where every nation of the world showcased its culture to the outside world, Yoruba people are showcasing their rich and diverse cultural heritage through the festival.

“We hereby call on Kwara and Kogi state governments, the Ministry of Culture and the National Museum to give total support and fully participate in this year’s edition of Oya Festival,” Salam said.
