Lightning strikes cheetah centre in Namibia.

CEOAFRICA gathered that a lightning struck and set fire on Namibia’s renowned cheetah conservation center, in Otjiwarongo, 250 kilometres (155 miles) north of the capital Windhoek injuring an intern and burning down buildings.

According to source, workers battling to contain the blaze at the centre were hampered by low water levels because of drought. It was also reported that no animals were injured,” it added, as 23 cheetahs at the reserve managed to escape the fire.

About 3,000 cheetahs remain in the wild in Namibia, the largest population in the world. While about 10,000 are still in the wild in Africa.
