The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria expressed their readiness to lift the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup ongoing in United Arab Emirates, when they brushed aside the tournament’s favourite and defending champions Mexico 6-1 in the first game of Group F played few hours ago.

The Manu Garba-tutored side got the first goal in the 33rd minute of the lively encounter through Kelechi Iheanacho, while the second goal came through the same player in the 40th minutes of the game.

The defending Champions then got a goal in the 42nd minutes through Jaimes, but the ever-sparkling Iheanacho got the third goal in the second half, while Chidiebere Nwakali made it four in the 50th minutes. Success Issac made it five for the rampaging Eaglets.

With 30 minutes to go, the irrepressible Iheanacho bagged his fourth goal. He cut in from the right side and fired a vicious strike from a long way out that Gudino got his finger-tips to, but had no chance of keeping out of the top corner to make the final score a frightening 6-1.

Up next for the impressive Nigerians is a date with Scandinavian debutants Sweden in three days’ time, when Mexico try to get things back on track against Iraq.
