No fewer than 10 people were arrested by men of Oyo State Police Command following a bloody fracas at a carnival in Ibadan. Also, the Caretaker Chairman of Ibadan North-West Local Government, Alhaji Wasiu Olatunbosun has placed an indefinite ban on future carnival and night party at Idikan and all areas within the council area.

CEOAFRICA news gathered on Sunday that the council boss declared that the fracas which occurred at Idikan early Friday morning was politically motivated. It was gathered that hoodlums had stormed Idikan, the  venue of the annual carnival organised by youths in the area during which about 15 women were sexually assaulted. Also, about 50 vehicles parked along the street, majority of which were commercial bus were badly damaged.

In a telephone conversation, Olatunbosun said some people have been working behind the scene at proving that Oyo State was not really secured as been proclaimed, adding that the fracas was not between rival groups but those who deliberately decided to foment trouble in the council area.

He also directed the victims of the fracas to take inventory of all vehicles damaged so as to compensate for the loss. "We will talk people in a way to pacify."

But the state police Acting Public Relation Officer (PPRO), ASP Inyeng Ignatius said those arrested would be prosecuted if they are found culpable in the fracas. "We don't want to punish innocent persons, so thorough investigation will be carried out and after that those found to be directly involved will be prosecuted," he said.

According to him, people are picked at random and that is why we don't want to punish innocent ones, thorough investigation will be conducted.
