CEOAFRICA gathered that President of Nigeria, GoodLuck Jonathan is today, Wednesday 23, October, scheduled to embark on a pilgrimage and official visit to Israel.
According to the statement issued yesterday by Reuben Abati, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Mr. President would meet with President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as part of the official visit.
The statement noted that the president would also meet with members of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, revealing that the talks between the president’s delegation and Israeli government officials were expected to focus on the enhancement of bilateral relations between Nigeria and Israel.
The area of bilateral talk which both countries will focus is highlighted to include trade, economic development, infrastructure, transportation, agriculture, communications, culture, education and tourism.
The statement moreover highlighted that the President would also meet with the president of the Palestinian National Authority, Mahmoud Abbas.
Accompanying Mr. President on this trip as listed by the statement includes; Senator Emmanuel Paulker; Minister of Agriculture, Akinwunmi Adesina; Minister of Water resources, Sarah Ochekpe; Minister of works, Mike Onolememen; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Viola Onwuliri, and the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
The Nigeria delegation is at the same time slated to undertake a tour of some locations in Israel which are revered by Christians because of their association with the earthly mission of Jesus Christ.
