OYO STATE HOUSE SUSPENDS ACTIVITIES OF OYSTERS

The Oyo state House of Assembly at its sitting today, ordered the immediate suspension of the activities of Oyo State Transporters Enumeration and Registration Scheme for the failure to appear before the House over allegation against the agency.

The proceeding which lasted for 1hr 15minutes covers deliberation on the top issued bordering on committee report on Oyo Vigilante Service bill, consideration of the report of the committee on the boundary dispute Oyo and Ogun state, as well as, attending to supposed appearances before the house.

As the proceeding progressed, a motion was moved to suspend all activities of Oyo State Transporters Enumeration and Registration scheme (OYSTERS), for their failure to appear before the House as demanded, to give explanation of the alleged collection of illegal fees from cyclist.

The House further deliberated on the proposed amendment of the Oyo State Vigilante Service Bill, 2013, highlighting some amendment proposed and adopting the bill for consideration.

The Committee Report on the boundary dispute between Ijio Community of Iwajowa Local Government of Oyo State and Moriwi  Community of Imeko Afon Local Government of Ogun State, introduced a kind of interesting drama as Honorables raised objection when the speaker, Rt. Hon. Monsurat Sumonu, almost rule for the adoption of the committee report.

The Honorables like Hon. Ajanaku, were able to stop the adoption of the bill on the note that the report has some defects which further interprets that the committee has not done a thorough job and that the house should not accept a defective report.

The House insisted on the rejection of the committee report on land dispute, to recalling that the purpose of the house is to make corrections and ensure that the right things are done even if it means the report presented seven times.

Giving resolution to the controversialCommittee report on the land dispute, the speaker directed the clark of the house to take over the defect committee report on land dispute.

The proceeding however adjourns till Thursday, 31st  October, 2013.
