In Kano, State Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran, had urged residents of the state to guard against cholera, in view of the outbreak of the disease in neighbouring states, through a statement issued on Friday by Alhaji Isma’ila Gwammaja, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry.

The commissioner said that there is need for people to be extra-vigilant against cholera especially now, due to recent outbreak of cholera in the neighbouring states.

According to him, the state government had been making efforts to safeguard the health of the people by providing clean portable water and regular sanitation.

Laraban blamed poor hygiene and contaminated foods or water for most of the contagious diseases afflicting the people, and urged them to desist from committing acts which might give rise to diarrhoea or cholera by complementing government’s efforts to ensure a clean and tidy environment.
