From Democratic Republic of Congo, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that heavy clash resumed between government forces and the M23 rebels near the Goma city.

The fight broke out days after peace talks in Uganda between the two warring parties were suspended. The government has refused to grant amnesty to members of the group.

Meanwhile, further north in DR Congo's Ituri province the medical charity Medecins sans Frontieres (MSF) says 100,000 people have been forced from their homes since August in fighting between the army and another rebel group, the Patriotic Resistance of Ituri Militia (FRPI).

MSF's Mariano Lugli in Ituri's main city of Bunia disclosed that fighting has escalated this week.

He said MSF was the only non-governmental organisation still operating in the area and most medical facilities had been looted and destroyed.
