Man Sentenced To 50 Years Imprisonment in Uganda

Report from Uganda indicates that a High Court sitting in Rukungiri, has sentenced a man to 50 years in jail for murder.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that Joshua Turyansingura, 26, was accused of murdering Robert Arinaitwe who was a teacher at Immaculate Girls Secondary School in Rukungiri.

During the trial, the court heard that on 26th November, 2011 at Kayembe Cell, Kinyasano ward, Western division in Rukungiri Municipality, Turyansingura, who is a resident of Bwashwa cell in Bwindi Kayonza sub county Kanungu district, together with another person identified as Natuwhera Naboth, murdered Robert Arinaitwe and robbed him of his belongings that included money and mobile phone.

Resident State Attorney, Batson Baguma said both suspects were arrested on March 2012.

 While delivering the judgement, Justice Joseph Murangira said he found the accused guilty and therefore sentenced him to 50 years each on the account of murder and aggravated robbery, even though he will serve the jail terms concurrently.
