CEOAFRICA gathered that a valedictory session will be held on Thursday by the Court of Appeal in honour of the immediate past President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Isa Ayo Salami who retired as the president of the court on October 15.

The valedictory session is expected to hold at the ceremonial court of the Court of Appeal complex, Abuja.

Justice Salami was suspended by the National Judicial Council (NJC) in 2011, under the chairmanship of a former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu, a situation which before his suspension, he had alleged that Katsina-Alu wanted him to compromise in the case involving Sokoto State governor, Aliyu Wamakko.

Salami had since dragged the NJC before the court and the matter which is still pending before the Court of Appeal is regarded as the first time in the history of Judiciary in Nigeria that a sitting president of the Court of Appeal will be suspended.

Speaking at a book launch held in his honour in Ilorin recently, Justice Salami said he had no regret for his action during his tenure as the president of the Court of Appeal.
