A Court sitting in Chile has sentenced one man to life imprisonment over the death of a gay, Daniel Zamundio, 24,  who was brutally attacked in Santiago last year March.

CEOAFRICA.com also gathered that three other men were sentenced to jail between seven and fifteen years.

It was revealed that the victim was beaten unconscious, burned with cigarettes and had swastikas carved into his skin. He died three weeks later due to injuries.

The crime shocked the country and prompted legislators to approve a bill against homophobic crimes.

Last week, a similar event occurred where a 21-year-old gay man was beaten up in Santiago, as activists says one of his eyes was cut out with knife by the attackers.
