From Zimbabwe, it was gathered that the highest court of the country has declared that the law which stipulate punishment for anybody that insults the president, is unconstitutional. The Court said no one should be prosecuted for making comments about President Robert Mugabe in places like drinking halls and social places.

The above declaration hereby jettisoned Section 33 of Zimbabwe’s Criminal Codification and Reform Act which states that a person could be jailed for up to a year or fined $100 for insulting the president’s office.

It would be recalled that last May, opposition activist Solomon Madzore was arrested for allegedly calling Mr Mugabe a "limping donkey".
