Tragedy: Great Nigeria Building gulfs fire in Lagos

Tragedy struck, as the Great Nigeria House, a 15-storey building housing many offices, along Martins Street, off Balogun, on the Marina; Lagos Island was engulfed by fire on Monday morning.

According to Rasaq Fadipe, a Director in the Lagos State Fire Service, the fire started at 6:30 am, when fire fighters from Onikan Fire Station responded.

An eyewitness who was also questioned said the fire started at 6:00 am when fire fighters from Onikan Fire Station were called. Witness further revealed that the fire service station responded on time but delayed in putting off the fire due to incomplete equipments.

According to source, no live was lost as the building had not opened for business when the fire started.
