Friday, November 8, 2013 will forever remain remarkable in the mind of Ibadan dwellers as the immediate past Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Habitat in Oyo State, Bar. Lowo Obisesan was installed the new Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland.

As the Jagun Balogun, Bar. Lowo Obisesan, who is from Awonsoso dynasty in Ibadan land, now toe the line of Olubadan from the Balogun lineage.

The installation ceremony was performed by the Olubadan of Ibadan land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade I, at the Olubadan’s Palace, Monatan, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Royal Father  prayed for the new Jagun Balogun, before he was decorated with the Akoko leaf by the Oluwo Afobaje of Ibadanland, Chief Salawu Agbaje-Bello, in the presence of other prominent traditional leaders including the Ekerin Olubadan, High Chief Eddie Oyewole, the Iyalode of Ibadan land Alh. Aminat Abiodun, just to mention but few.

After the installation rites was concluded, the new Jagun Balogun moved to his family compound in Foko, where he received traditional blessings from elders of the Awonsoso dynasty amid pump and pageantries.

Speaking to CEOAFRICA correspondent during the ceremony, the new Jagun Balogun of Ibadan land couldn’t hide his joy for witnessing the occasion:

“I am very happy today that I am alive to witness my elevation into the rank of Jagun Balogun of Ibadan land. I am from the Awonsoso dynasty, toeing the line of Olubadan from the Balogun lineage. This title officially confirmed me as a potential Olubadan of Ibadan land.

“Mine is to make life better for every Ibadan dweller and I will continually work for the development of Ibadan as a city, he said.

He also said as a politician, taking up a traditional title is not superfluous because politics cannot be separated from tradition.

“In the olden days, our fore-fathers practiced politics in a traditional way and it is imperative that politician should learn from the traditional settings to ensure a better society.

He said he will forever remain in the path of truth and condemned any negative attitude of politicians across the nation.
