From Malawi, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that police have arrested former Justice Minister  Ralph Kasambara at his home in Lilongwe for allegedly masterminded the shooting of the country’s budget director.

It was alleged that Kasambara was connected with the shooting of Paul Mphwiyo, on September 13, when it was rumoured that the victim was about to reveal some damning evidence of government corruption. 

According to sources, Mphwiyo survived but was serious injured. He was taken to South Africa for treatment.

Malawi is one of the poorest nations on the African continent, relying on international donors for about 40 percent of the state budget. Kasambara's arrest comes a day after donors warned that they will withdraw their support unless the government cracks down on corruption.
