President Goodluck Jonathan yerstrdy decorated his Aide-De-Camp (ADC), Ojogbane Adegbe, with the new rank of Colonel in the Nigerian Army.

Mr. Adegbe who was assigned to the President as his ADC in May 2010, graduated from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, in September 1995 as a member of the 42 Regular Course, he also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Masters in Intelligence and International Security from Kings College, London.

According to source, the decoration was done in a brief ceremony at the green room (one of the president’s conference rooms).

Mr. Jonathan charged the colonel on improved performance following his new rank.

“When you are given higher authority you are expected to perform according to your status.

“We hope that whatever you have been doing very well you will even do more. We wish you success in your career,” he said.

While reacting to the privilege, Mr. Adegbe in a short response thanked God for the opportunity and the promotion. He noted that according to the bible, “promotion comes from God alone and this has not been because I deserve it but because God who shows mercy and grace has allowed it to happen”.

He thanked the president for personally taking charge of the decoration and the service chiefs, ministers, chief of staff, Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the National Security Adviser, who attended the ceremony.

President Jonathan finally thanked the service chiefs who had taken time to attend the decoration ceremony stating that the ADC was privileged “otherwise they would not be here”.
