TANZANIAN PRESIDENT HANDS BACK GOLD GIFT TO ORPHANS

President Jakaya Kikwete has handed back a pure gold gift weighing 227 grams and worth SH16million to Nyamigogo Grand Vezir Holdings of Geita.

CEOAFRICA gathered that this according to a statement issued in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday by the Directorate of Presidential Communication is alleged to have stated that the president decided to hand back the gift to the owners shortly after it was presented to him during his tour of Geita Region.

Kikwete who was given the prize on Monday at the Launching of a gold processing plant owned by Nyamigogo Grand Vezir Holdinds at Kharuma, commented the gold mine owners for their decision to start a gold processing factory, adding that it will add value to the products and eventually benefit the people of Kharuma.

Handing back the gold gift to the owners, President Kikwete stated that the gift couldbe sold anywhere and the proceed used for the benefit of orphans.

The Tanzanian President however directed that the factory employs state-of-the-art technology in order to cope with market demand and new trends.
