BRAZIL- The body of former President of Brazil, late Joao Goulart was exhumed yesterday to established the real cause of his death.

The late president who was nicknamed Jango, died in 1976 while on exile in Argentina from what was believed to be heart attack, but a former Uruguayan intelligence officer said Mr Goulart was poisoned by agents working for the region’s military governments.

According to what CEOAFRICA.com gathered, the remains was exhumed by Forensic Scientists from the family pantheon in Sao Borja, a small town close to Argentine border, and was immediately transferred by car to the nearby town of Santa Maria from where they will be flown to Brasilia, where President Dilma Rousseff will attend a full state ceremony in his honour.

Mr Goulart was the only Brazilian president to be buried without the honours usually given to a former head of state.

Toxicology tests will be carried out on the remains and samples sent abroad to be analysed.
