Collapse of supermarket is a 'murder case'-Latvia president

Following Thursday's tragedy, the Latvian president has described the collapse of the supermarket in the capital Riga as "murder".

According to report, Andris Berzins said many defenceless people had been killed and that should be the basis for an investigation into the disaster, adding that the investigation should be held at "maximum speed".

 "This case must be treated as murder because many unprotected people are killed. She said’’.

The current death toll is 52 but some 10 families have reported missing relatives to the police.

 Latvia has begun three days of national mourning.

Report says this is the deadliest disaster since the former Soviet republic gained independence in 1991.
