MALI- Parliamentary election has been held across the West African country of Mali amid high security at the weekend.

The election is the second of its kind held since August after the unrest which followed the military intervention was quenched by the French and ECOWAS soldiers.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that a total of 6.5 million people registered to take part in the first round of elections to choose a parliament.

Voting began at 08:00 GMT in the West African nation and ended at 18:00 last Saturday, although the turnout was relatively low compared to the presidential election held in August where Ibrahim Boubacar Keita emerged winner.

The Head of EU’s observer Louis Michael, said the election went a planned and no unusual event occurred at all.
