EGYPT- Prosecutors have ordered for immediate arrest of Ahmed Maher, head of the 6 April youth movement, and Alaa Abdul Fattah, for inciting a protest in Cairo, the capital city of Egypt.

The duo was accused of participating alongside other 24 activist in a demonstration which took place outside the upper house of parliament.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that prosecutors ordered that the accused be remanded in custody, along with other protesters, for four days on various charges.

The protesters, according to sources, expressed their displeasure about a new law that restricts demonstrations, calling for it to be repealed.

The law, they add, effectively replaces the recently expired state of emergency that was declared in mid-August after hundreds of people were killed when security forces cleared two sit-ins in Cairo by supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi who was deposed by the military in July.
