Osun speaker condemns attack on school principal

Osogbo – The Speaker of the Osun state House of Assembly, Mr Najeem Salaam, has condemned the mob attack on the principal, teachers and students of  Baptist High School, Ejigbo, Osun, by Muslim youths.

Salaam disclosed this to in Osogbo the state capital stated that the attack was unnecessary and uncalled for.

It would be recalled that a group of Muslim youths had on Tuesday invaded the Baptist High School, Ejigbo, and beat up the Principal, Mr Layi Oguntola as well as some teachers and students.

It was alleged that the attackers, mobbed the principal because the school authorities stopped some Muslims pupils from wearing ‘hijab’.

The speaker, who described the incident as sad and unfortunate, said the crisis did not have anything to do with the school merger programme of the state government.

He added that the state government would not relent in its efforts to provide an environment that is conducive to learning, adding that the school reclassification programme in the state was in the best interest of the citizenry.
