The Senate has rejected the nomination of American-based professor, Akintunde Akinwande, as the head of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Ceoafrica gathered that Mr Akinwande was rejected for his failure to attend confirmation hearing.

The decision was announced today, as other nominees for whom confirmation was sought by President Muhammadu Buhari, were cleared by the Senate.

Akintunde Akinwande is a Nigerian-American engineering professor at the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department of Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
