The founder of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare in strong words, recently denied having any links whatsoever, with the suspended controversial code of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) which led to Pastor Adeboye’s resignation as the head of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Nigeria.

According to Ceoafrica, he was reacting to stories being spread online concerning his alleged affinity with the sacked FRC boss, Jim Obazee.

Reacting to the stories, Bakare said “May the good Lord forgive those who spread ugly rumours and imagine vain things about other people. How can anyone think or suggest that I know anything about the code as it relates to Pastor Adeboye. Balderdash!

“Let those who gave you such lousy information establish the basis of their malicious story. Shalom.”

Obazee who was allegedly insistent on the application of the code concerning tenure of church leaders even when the Minister of Trade and Investment (Okechukwu Enelamah) ordered its suspension, was a member of RCCG before he reportedly fell out with the Adeboye’s leadership; and was said to be close to Bakare’s church.

RCCG also claimed that Obazee threatened to deal with Adeboye before his acrimonious exit from the church.

It was gathered that Bakare’s exit from RCCG was also controversial, reportedly quitting as the pastor of the church’s first model parish in Nigeria, he has also led his church for more than 20 years which the FRC’s code prescribed as terminal point for church leaders.
