Sokoto Govt. budgets N32 million for mass wedding.

Owing to insurgency that crippled many relationships in Northern states due to fear of death, the Sokoto State Government led by Governor Aminu Tambuwal, has said that N32 million has been set aside for the mass wedding of 100 couples in the state.

According to Ceoafrica, the State commissioner for Religious Affairs, Mani katami, disclosed this at the inauguration of the committee on Islamic Marriage Mediation in Sokoto, saying beneficiaries would be drawn from the 23 local government areas of the state.

Katami who added that the gesture was part of measures adopted by the state government to assist people in the society, also urged members of the committee to ensure fairness in the discharge of their assignment.

The committee, which has Aliyu Kofar Rini‎ as chairman, and members comprising of Islamic scholars, government officials and representatives of the Sultanate Council, among others was given two weeks to complete the assignment.
